The Power of Your Story
Your HER-2 story can be very inspirational and helpful to someone first starting their journey with breast cancer. By sharing your story, others will benefit from your experience, wisdom and advice.
Here are some questions you might want to consider as you decide what information to share with other patients and families.
Think back to when you first received your diagnosis.
- Did your physician suggest a HER-2 test? Or is it something you suggested to your physician after researching breast cancer topics?
- Were you told about the importance of the test and how it could help determine the best course of treatment?
- How did you explore the testing options?
- What did your HER-2 test indicate? Did you feel you needed to confirm the results/get a second opinion?
- If you were positive for HER-2, what were your feelings about the results?
- How did the results shape the next steps in your journey?
- Would you do anything differently?
- Did you start HER2 targeted therapy, such as Herceptin? Has it helped you?
- What would you like to tell other patients about the HER-2 testing process?
